Class of Pension
Pensions are classified into different categories based on the circumstances of retirement and service conditions:
1. Superannuation Pension
Granted to a Government servant who retires on attaining the age of superannuation or on completion of the age limit fixed for the post held by him/her.
2. Retiring Pension
Granted to a Government servant who retires after completing the minimum qualifying service required for pension, or who is permitted to retire voluntarily before attaining the age of superannuation.
3. Invalid Pension
Granted to a Government servant who retires on account of any bodily or mental infirmity which permanently incapacitates him/her for the service.
4. Compensation Pension
Granted to a Government servant who is discharged from service due to abolition of his/her post.
5. Compulsory Retirement Pension
Granted to a Government servant who is compulsorily retired from service as a penalty, provided he/she has completed the minimum qualifying service.
6. Family Pension
Granted to the family members of a deceased Government servant or pensioner, as per the provisions of the Pension Rules.
7. Special Categories
- Freedom Fighters Pension
- Pro-rata Pension
- MLA/MLC Pension
- Special Seal Authority (SSA) Pension (Incoming/Outgoing)
